A fishing district, bigger than Pedregalejo
El Palo is another of Málaga’s old fishing districts, on the coast, just east of Pedregalejo. It’s larger and more residential, with its own market and streets that still keep the layout and feel of when it lived off fishing.
It shares its seafaring roots and its seafront promenade with Pedregalejo, but keeps its own pace: fewer terraces per metre of promenade and more everyday neighbourhood life.
El Palo beach
An urban beach of dark sand, a continuation of the coastline that starts in Pedregalejo. The promenade runs right next to the sand, with quieter stretches the further east you go, away from the centre of Pedregalejo.
One promenade, two districts
The Pedregalejo seafront promenade runs straight through, with no gaps, to El Palo: it’s the same path by the sea, so you can walk from one district to the other without leaving the coast. FOMO Playa is on the Pedregalejo stretch, closer to La Malagueta; El Palo lies further east, along the promenade.

Where is El Palo?
In Málaga’s eastern district, on the coast, just east of Pedregalejo. It’s one of the city’s old fishing neighbourhoods, with its own beach and its own seafront promenade.
Is FOMO Playa in El Palo?
No. FOMO Playa is in Pedregalejo, the neighbouring district, at Paseo Marítimo el Pedregal, 11. El Palo starts further along, continuing east on the promenade.
Can you walk from Pedregalejo to El Palo?
Yes. The seafront promenade runs straight through from one neighbourhood to the other, a flat walk by the sea, no car needed.
What’s the difference between Pedregalejo and El Palo?
Both were fishing neighbourhoods in Málaga’s eastern district and share the same promenade, but they’re distinct: Pedregalejo is smaller with more bars and terraces per metre of seafront; El Palo is larger, with its own market and a more residential feel.
